After months and months of Bryan Singer posting set photos on Twitter, today comes our first real look at his upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. The two-minute trailer is certainly no teaser, showing off much of the cast and even explaining the broad strokes of the plot.
I have high hopes for this one. I loved Singer’s entries in the X-franchise and thought First Class was phenomenal so I’ve got my fingers crossed that they don’t drop the ball here. Though the awful future uniforms and the fact that they kept the dumb-ass time-travel-via-the-mind nonsense don’t inspire confidence. Neither does the fact that X2 was a decade ago and Singer’s output since has run the gamut from “shitty” to “an ok way to kill an afternoon”.
I guess we’ll find out on May 23rd if Jack the Giant Slayer was an aberration or a signal of a career trajectory.
