The FLASH Pilot Is Dead. Long Live The FLASH Pilot.

So, you know how the Flash was going to show up on Arrow later this season? There was going to be a costume and everything? Well, I’ve got some good news and some bad news.

The bad news is, while Barry Allen is still set to appear in episodes 8 and 9 (in early December), his full-blown appearance as the Flash in episode 20 has been shelved.

The good news is the reason. It seems that network execs liked the two-parter so much that they felt the backdoor pilot that episode 20 was going to be is unnecessary. The Flash is getting a regular standalone pilot.

The show will still be set in the same continuity as Arrow, obviously, given Grant Gustin’s introduction as Barry Allen on that series. The two shows also share the exact same creative team, with Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and  Geoff Johns writing the pilot and David Nutter, who directed the pilot for Arrow, returning.

It’s unclear how a change like this, this late in the game will affect the plans for the upcoming episode 20. Will the episode sill feature Gustin’s Allen in some capacity or will plans for the back half of the season have to be altered in major ways?
