A DJANGO/ZORRO Comic Is Happening, And Tarantino’s Involved

All of the terrible, horrible things in the world, put them aside for a minute and bask in the glow of this wonderfully insanely wonderful news. There will be a comic book crossover featuring Django, the former slave, now hell-bent on revenge, and Zorro, the Mexican hero who inspired Batman (both in-universe and largely out of it as well). This is a thing that is happening, because the comic gods love us and want us to be happy.

Django-ZorroThe proof that they want us to be happy? Quentin Tarantino and Matt Wagner will be co-plotting the series, while Reginald Hudlin will take on editing duties. Wagner, of course, is the creator of such classic comics as Grendel and Mage. Hudlin was one of the producers on Django Unchained and wrote the comic adaptation, as well as an acclaimed run on Black Panther.

Tarantino said of the comic:

I’m very very excited about both this story and the opportunity to work with Matt. It was reading his Zorro stories that convinced me what a good idea it was to join these two icons together. And the story idea we came up with is thrilling, and I think will be an exciting new chapter for both characters.

There is no set release date for Django/Zorro yet, but it’s set to come out sometime this year. While we know Wagner will be providing the final script, the artist was not announced.
