On Wednesday we got news that actress Jenna-Louise Coleman would be taking the companion role on Doctor Who when Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill exit the show this season, leaving sites like this one to scour Google for pictures to fill our articles. Poor us.
It seems, however, that the BBC (or at least BBC America) wanted a little more control. Because today, via BBC America’s Tumblr, comes the first official image of Coleman from Doctor Who.
Lots of fans and lots of sites are trying to read anything and everything they can into this picture in an attempt to figure out what kind of character Coleman is playing. The general consensus looks to be, based on her sweater, that she hails from the 1970s. Which would be pretty cool.
However, this is total bullshit.
Remember, this was the first official image of Matt Smith.
