Are You Ready For TV Shows From Matt Fraction And Kelly Sue DeConnick?

Currently two of the best creators in comics, Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick (the couple collectively known as the “DeFractions”) are about to bring their considerable talents to television. The pair have signed a development deal with Universal TV via their Milkfed Criminal Masterminds production company.

According to Deadline, the first project from the partnership will be an adaptation of Sex Criminals, Fraction and co-creator Chip Zdarsky’s comic about a pair of criminals with the ability to stop time when they orgasm. Really. I have no idea how they’re going to pull this off.

Working with Universal implies that the series will end up on SyFy. One hopes that they’ll also find a way to make DeConnick and Valentine De Landro’s Bitch Planet work without watering it down too much. (The series focuses on a women’s prison in a dystopian future and turns the exploitation genre staple into a feminist anthem in four-colors.)

More likely is her and Emma Rios’ horror western, Pretty Deadly.

The DeFractions plan to use the deal to develop projects by other creators as well.
